Wow! Rarely does a goalie get on my shit list, but the-goalie-formerly-known-as-Simeon is on his way.
In an interview with some Russian rag called "OK" he was asked if he had any personal admirers since becoming a super star with the caps. He told the interviewer:

Nice! I'm cutting him WAY more slack than I should because a.) he's a goalie....b.) he's ridiculously young. I'm a fat chick, I've got no problems saying it. I'd be willing to bet well over 1/2 of the NHL agrees with him...they just aren't dumb enough to say it.
And to think, I put him on my hot goalie list. HUH!!!

Most people around the world have a skewed view on Americans. I'm a size 6 and by no means do I think I look like a supermodel or large, but his comment burns. It is his opinion and so be it, but there are things you don't say to or about people that have given you as much as the U.S. has given him. His distaste for our country is sad(and doesn't end with the women I assure you) and he is overlooking the fact that one day looks fade, but the personalities of people are what truly makes them. He is the one losing out on a different perspective of the world by keeping his head in the sand. There are so many young, talented players who would do anything for the chance to be where he is and to have those types of opportunities.
If you are going to be affected by his ignorant statement (presumably made by his penis) channel it into something good.Don't let him be the cause of any unhappiness, he isn't worth it.
I doubt you could put any trust to what is published in a "glossy magazine". They could put words that he did not even say or said in a different context. Varly is a sweet guy, he does not care about other girls just because he loves his girlfriend.
All good points made and all reasons I haven't officially put him on a shit list. Also, if you noticed, the article was originally in a Russian "glossy" magazine. Could be a translation issue. Now I do believe he made some sort of similar comment. Russians seem to like Russian chicks. Both Ovy and Malkin have said that. Nothing wrong with that, but apparently they have the sense to stop commenting after that. It's dumb to cut off 1/2 of your fanbase when you play IN America by saying "I can't imagine being with an American chick, they don't take care of themselves." But 20 year old guys with broken English might not be a great source for quotes on such matters.
I did like the part of the interview where he said some lady asked him to sign her baby, very cute.
I'm not upset over the comments, I think it was a dumb thing to say. Maybe I should send him a "no fat chicks allowed" shirt and see if he'd wear it. Would make for a good photo op!

Hopefully, Varlamov has no plans to shoot "fat chicks" in the gym. Well, I could do some workout at home. It's also important not to forget about diet. Sigh.
