Thrasher Practice

It was cold, rainy and miserable so what better to do than to drive to Duluth for Thrashers practice. I was kind of excited to see what lines they would be running since Kovy is out.


When I got there, they had this contraption out on the ice. At first I thought the goal was to shoot it through the hole, but they were actually working on rebounds (I think). It was in front of the net and they would shoot it, skate towards it and when the puck bounced out and back to them, they'd put it in the net.





Kovy was of course not there, but neither was Antropov. He apparently has a nagging groin injury and has a few practice days off. They brought up Jason Krog from the Chicago Wolves.
The Lines were as follows
Afinogenov-White-Kozlov
AK47 line was intact (Pevs, Kane and Army)
Slater-Little-Reasoner
Boulton-Krog-Thorburn





After about 45 minutes, the guys went back into the dressing room and they brought the zamboni out. I was talking to the zamboni driver earlier and he said he had to redo the ice and that they must be going to "skate the guys' asses off."

Scary moment, I looked over and there was a Dman down. It turned out to be Schubert. He took something (puck or stick) to the face. He skated it off. Tough guy!


Most exciting at practice today, a fight! I looked over and saw a huddle of players. At first I was alarmed because I thought someone was hurt. Then I realized they were fighting! I couldn't quite tell who it was at first, but then figured out it was Colby Armstrong and Eric Boulton. I knew that Boulton must have really pissed Colby off because most sane people don't fuck with Boultsie if they don't have to, and certainly not a teammate. Apparently it began when Army tripped Boulton. Army didn't back down either, he kept chirping and all hell broke lose.


I met a cool fellow fan and photographer there who was lucky enough to get pics of the fight. His name is Tim Stoklas and his pictures are like a billion times better than mine (of course they are). He sent me a link to them and I have asked permission to use them.

The action is beginning. Boultsie is tossing off his gloves.





This is my favorite because Boultsie looks like he absolutely wants to kill him.
