People of Blueland: Thrash

I love mascots...like seriously love them. At the NHL All Star game, I think I was more excited about seeing the mascots than the players. I'm like a 6 year old kid around them.


This week's focus in People of Blueland is our mascot, Thrash. You definitely cannot go to an Atlanta Thrashers game without seeing him. We by far have the best mascot in the league. Even when the team isn't doing well, Thrash gets kudos from the hockey world.


Who can blame them, look what a sharp dresser he is!



Even the other teams' fans think Thrash is awesome!



So let's take a look at what Thrash does in Blueland!


Even though Thrash takes some abuse in the arena, he is always willing to stop for a picture or entertain us. (don't throw popcorn, he's not a pigeon!)



Sometimes the abuse gets out of hand!



Don't worry though, Thrash can dish it out, too, especially to opposing fans!



Get em, Thrash!



Sometimes on Kids Days, he brings Lil' Thrash!



Thrash has his own fashion sense for sure. I think this was on Halloween.



And some times it's just WTF?? (thanks for the picture, Kerry!)



Thrash walks around with the drum and gets the fans going with chants. This picture sucks, but it's one of my favorite things he does.



Sometimes if you are lucky, he brings out the giant marching band drum. I lose my mind when he does this.



Thrash isn't just some dumb bird! He knows his hockey! He knows when the ref makes a bad call.



When things aren't going our way, he tries to distract the opposing goalie or use his bird voodoo on them.



For some reason, this totally delights me.



Thrash will even put up with us moron fans asking him to pose. Here he is striking the classic Olan Mills pose.



He can walk on stilts!



Thrash loves to support a good cause, too. Here is him with his mustache for Movember, supporting prostate cancer and other men's health issues.



Thrash is also a romantic!



For the right price, or if you are a super fan and friend of the bird like MacKenna, he will deliver flowers to your house/job for Valentines Day.



This is one of my very favorite things he does, because he won't be doing it anymore. For the past few seasons at the final game of the season, Thrash stands by Moose for the "Jersey off of our Back" game. It always looks like they are having such a serious discussion.
