Carl Klingberg Signed By Thrashers!
In some off season news, the Atlanta Thrashers have signed Carl Klingberg, super-beloved-of- this-blog-Swedish-player, to a rookie contract.
Klingberg, 19, appeared in 42 games last season with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League, registering 13 points (six goals, seven assists). The Goteborg, Sweden, native also appeared in five games for Sweden at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championships, scoring one goal while helping his team to a Bronze Medal finish.
Thrashers also signed prospect Danick Paquette.
Paquette, 19, posted 65 points (36 goals, 29 assists) in 64 games last season with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He led the Remparts in goals and penalty minutes (136), and ranked fifth on the team in points and assists. The 6-0, 210-pound right wing also tied for the team lead with six game-winning goals and ranked second with 12 power play tallies. Paquette added four points (one goal, three assists) and 21 penalty minutes in five QMJHL post-season games.
