What Should Boudreau Do? *Poll*
Jose Theodore must have had an ominous feeling of deja vu in the last game. Caps were down a game and early in the first period, he'd let in two goals. Coach Boudreau pulled Jose and put in Semyon Varlamov. This is almost the same thing that happened last season. Semyon stepped in and stood on his head.
Last year, Boudreau kept playing Varlamov and it payed off. They were able to dig themselves out of being down a few games to the Rangers and advanced to the next series. Should Bruce do the same thing?
Varly hasn't started a lot of games this year due to injury. Last season he had been doing well in the AHL before coming to back up Jose. On the other hand he is fresh, rested and we saw what he could do last season.
Though untimely, the goals let in early in the first period of Game 2 against the Canadiens weren't horrible. The first one was a laser beam that the coach as well as the commentators agreed he didn't have a chance on. The other goal was helped by a complete breakdown in defense. Jose goes into the playoffs with good stats, stats that are very similar to last season. His regular season stats are a SV% of .911 and GAA of 2.81.
So....what do you do? Do you put Jose back in. He's played well this season, do you give him another chance? Do you put in Varlamov and hope that he has a repeat of last season? Take the poll at the right and discuss in the comment section!
