Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Colin Stuart traded to Calgary

Not my Stuie! Why should I care that Stuie got traded from the Leafs to the Flames? Because that means I don't get to see him this season. The Flames are not scheduled to come through Blueland. At least when he was a Leaf I'd get to see him.

Calgary traded forward Wayne Primeu and a second round draft pick in 2011 for defencemean Anton Stralman, my Stuie and Toronto's 7th round draft pick in 2012.

Good thing I never got a Stuart Leafs jersey. Guess I can enjoy this clip with no guilt again.

Hockey Photo of the Day

As well as being the birthday of Michael Weatherly, Tony DiNozzo on my favorite show "NCIS" it is also the birthday of Rich Peverley and ex-Thrasher, Colin Stuart.

I searched and searched for a pic of both Stuie and Pevs, this was all I had. Not the best, but oh well. It DOES have a pic of my Moose in it.

Happy Birthday guys! Stuie, I miss you already.

Farewell Garnett Exelby and Colin Stuart

We lost two Thrashers today in the trade with Toronto.

First up, Garnett Exelby. Ex was a huge fan favorite. He is funny, personable and not afraid to make a joke at his own expense. On the ice he was a tough player who liked to hit. Drafted in 1999 by the Atlanta Thrashers, Ex was our last "original" (kind of) Thrasher. He didn't play his first game as a Thrasher until the 2002-03 season and made the roster full time in 2003-04.

Last season Ex led the Thrashers in hits (151) and was third on the team in blocked shots (99). In 357 career games, all played in Atlanta, he registered 46 points and, more importantly, 511 penalty minutes.

What most Thrashers fans will miss the most Ex's personality and antics off the ice.

This is my favorite Ex video ever. Him talking about his summer vacation.

Another funny video with Ex:

Ex in the community

Leafs, you are gettin a good guy in Ex!

Stuie wasn't as popular as Ex, but he was one of my favorites. Called up this season he showed his ability to be good on the penalty kill with a habit of scoring short handed goals. Stuie was probably my 2nd favorite non-goalie Thrasher. In 33 games with Atlanta, Stuie registered five goals, three assists and eight points with 18 penalty minutes. Three of those goals were short handed. The thing that caught my attention was the short handed goals, then I noticed what nice brown eyes he had ;)

I made him this sign for the last game of the season as I didn't want him to go back to the Wolves...well he isn't. So I guess that's good for him.

Good luck in Toronto guys! You will be missed in Blueland.

Focus on a Thrasher: Colin Stuart

This week's Focus on a Thrashers is #49, Colin Stuart. Stuie is probably my second favorite non-goalie Thrasher. He first caught my attention when they brought him up from Chicago this season and had a knack for scoring short handed goals. He's been an important part of our penalty kill team since he arrived. Of course then I noticed he had really nice eyes :)

Colin Stuart was born on July 8, 1982 in Rochester, Minnesota.

Stuie comes from a family of hockey playing brothers who all played for Colorado College.
Older brother Mike was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the 5th round, 137th overall in 2000. Mike currently plays for the Graz 99ers of the Austrian Hockey League.
Younger brother Mark was drafted by the Boston Bruins 21st overall in the first round of the 2003. Mark had a nice little run for the cup this season with Boston.

Most people know about Stuie's brothers, but many don't know he has a hockey playing sister, too. Cristin Stuart has been quite the defensive player at Boston College. The Stuart brothers swear that their sister is the best player of all of them.

Stuart was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 5th round with the 135th pick in the 2001.

Colin scored 77 points (38 goals, 39 assists) and 154 penalty minutes in 156 games over four-year career at Colorado College from 2000-04.

Stuie joined the Atlanta Thrashers in 2004 and was assigned to the Chicago Wolves.

Stuie also played 11 games for the ECHL's Gwinette Gladiators.

Stuie made his NHL debut during the 2007-08 season, playing 18 games and scoring 3 goals.

Colin returned to Chicago in 2008 and helped the Wolves win the Calder Cup.

Stuart started the 2008-09 season with the Chicago Wolves, but was called up to Atlanta at the end of January and played for the remainder of the season.

For this season Stuie played in 33 games for the Thrashers. He had 5 goals and 3 assists for 8 points. Most impressive (to me) is that THREE of his five goals were shorthanded. Nice!

We were also super proud of our Stuie when he represented the USA in the World Championships this year. We didn't win a medal, but we finally beat the Finns! Thank you Stuie!

This is my favorite picture of Stuie from the season. It's from the "Shirts Off Of Our Backs" night at the final game. He just looks so nice and friendly.

One of my favorite memories of Stuie of the season is of him and some other Thrashers playing Goal or Roll with Moose. Everyone shot the puck and if they didn't make a certain number of goals, they had to roll. If Moose didn't make a certain amount of saves, he had to roll. Moose was quite good!

Hockey Players Stripping!

That got your attention (one way or the other)! Final game of the 2008-09 season. Thrashers vs. Lightning.

What a wonderful season it's been. Well, let me explain...the Thrashers haven't had exactly a wonderful season, but I've had so much fun going to all of the games, making new friends and enjoying this sport that it's been wonderful for me.

I've been a Thrashers fan for a while but because my husband works odd hours, I didn't get to go to as many games as I'd like. When I met Shauna at work a little over 2 years ago...problem solved! A rabid hockey nut that was free to go to games.

We've had a blast this season. So sad it's over :(

So the Lightening stormed (hehe) into town for our final game of the season. The arena was full (WOW) and times were good.

Warm ups!

I had a very special sign for Moose for the final warm up. Moose is such a hard worker and such a good team player, I wanted him to know how much he was appreciated. My sign says "Thank you very much" and has a little Moose relaxing with a drink.

I even made sure his little margarita had salt on the rim

I also had a sign telling them to bring Stuie back.

Here are my signs in action! Thanks to Mr. Fred I have a picture of me, my sign and my Moose!

Colby and some guy laughing and having a good time....hey wait that's Slava! Who knew he could smile???

My Moose, how I will miss you.

Kari warming up. Good to see him in the nets again.

Hey Bobo!

Our Little superstar.

Kari smiling like he just sugared your gas tank.

Moose in the usual spot.

Well Toby, I didn't know you cared! I didn't think you liked me "like that."

Stuie! I so hope he's back on the roster next season.

Smile Moose, smile.

Oh Toby, what are you warming up by shooting for? Everyone knows Toby NEVER shoots it.

Oh Slava, what's wrong with the stick, buddy? Enstrom still can't take his eyes off of me. Is my fly open?

Slater skating with his hair blowing in the wind.

Awwww, what are these Finnish babies talking about?
Ramo: Päivää
Kari: Päivää
Ramo: Kuinka voit?
Kari: I am pretty good, glad to be back in the game. Glad this season is over.
Ramo: Yeah, I don't blame you, your team sucks.
Kari: Dude, you play for the Lightning.

Kaptain Kovalchuk

Colby and Pevs chatting.

Boultsie and Stuie

Bobo and Bogo

Every time the Lightning come to town, The Heatmeiser is waiting for them with a funny St. Louie sign. They say the midget gets mad and the team mates laugh. Again, 5'9'' my ass.

Moose striking a majestic pose.

Hainsey has quite a female following. I'm sure his Hollywood good looks have something to do with that. I love the chick blowing him a kiss in the background.

On to the game!

Sorry it's backwards, but oh well. Congratulations to Colby Armstrong for winning the Dan Snyder award. I tear up every year for this. Seeing is funny, sweet smiling face makes me think what we lost when Dan died. I'm constantly in amazement at the forgiveness of his family and how they work to truely turn Dan's memory into something possitive. Army deserves it.

We started out in 216, seat B. Good for pictures, you were above the glass and could see the action. Opening face off.

The Lightning making Kari do some work.

Kari making a save.

Fight! Apparently Konopka was talking some shit to Boultsie and Boultsie had to straighten him out. Boultsie won!

Not to be out done, Thorburn decides to take on....holy shit, that's ARTYUKHIN. Don't do it Chris! Arty handed Thor his ass.

Boultsie: Dude, wtf were you doing??
Thor: I wanted to fight, too!
Boultsie: That was freaking Artyukhin, are you nuts?
Thor: I did okay.
Boultsie: He totally kicked your ass.

Bogo wanted to dance, too. He did a good job against Pettinger. Two out of three ain't bad!

WTF???? Why is there a puppet at the hockey game? It wasn't part of the show either, some fan brought it.

Second period we notice our friend David sitting 3 rows from the glass under us. We him asked if anyone was by him and there wasn't so we went on down.

Action shot from the new seats!

I was on the row that was right by the Tampa Bay bench so I got good shots of the back-up(back-up) goalie, Karri Ramo. Don't get too comfortable, Karri. You'll be warming up soon

A shot of the tank, Artyukhin. Shauna a/k/a Mother Russia was going nuts.

Poor McKenna, he was NOT having a good night.

McKenna has had an NHL baptism by fire this year. I think he's played well considering he's been mostly AHL and ECHL and now suddenly he's facing the likes of Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, Kolvachuk and Staal on a night basis. Plus he's brought good looks to the Tampa goalies.

Ilya and Bochenski waiting for the face off.

Well, poor McKenna got pulled after letting 3 in. Welcome to the game, Karri Ramo!

Ramo tracking the puck.

Poor McKenna. Getting pulled wasn't bad enough he got constantly heckled while on the bench. Some super loud guy a few rows back was constantly yelling:
"McKenna you suck."
"Don't worry McKenna, it's not your fault."
"Your walking home, McKenna."
"Even your mom hates you McKenna."
I guess it's because I'm such a goalie homer but I couldn't take it any more. I yelled "LEAVE MCKENNA ALONE!" (Maybe I should make a video like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qOW__TneAY )

I love a good heckle, but come on. He kept yelling. And I yelled (as I was sitting right by McKenna at the time)"kick his ass, McKenna." I'm sure he appreciated being defended by a girl.
LEAVE MCKENNA ALONE! I mean it.

A shot of Ramo's yucky brains mask.

Ramo seeing more action.

Some action up close.

Thrashers win 7-2!! It's our last game of the season so it's time for the 7th man award and the "Shirts off of our back" promotion. The 7th man is an award given to a super fan. It's chosen by people writing in and nominating someone and the committe choosing you. The 7th man gets first choice of who they want a jersey from. As usual, 7th man chose Ilya.

The shirts off of our backs is a contest where season ticket holders are randomly selected to receive a players game worn jersey. They don't get to choose who they want.

I didn't have a very good view of Moose taking off the jersey, but I got before and after.
*SWOON*

I love burst mode! He and Thrash look like they are having serious discussions. The last picture is funny, he's looking right at me. Maybe he's thinking "I thought I had a restraining order against her."

Take it off, Stuie!

Go Bobo Go!

Boultsie is such a nice guy.

That's quite a line up! Moose, Ex, Bogo, Hainsey and Oysters.

Ex is showing a little skin!

Kari showing us what is exactly under his jersey.

Thrashers win, there are no more games....GUEST AT THE POST GAME!
We had the ultimate guest, Coach John Anderson.

Drink up coach! You deserve it! I've seen a few games where I wouldn't blame you if you pulled out a crack pipe.

Best part of the night, I know the guy who got the Moose jersey. Jamey was excited when they called him and told him he would be receiving a jersey that night, but he didn't know whose he would get. He was super excited to learn he got the Moose's jersey! He said when he got it, he couldn't wait to show it to me. Isn't that sweet. He let me hold it, smell it and snuggle it. It actually smelled SOOO good, Moose didn't play in it.
So that's right...THIS jersey
Is the one in my very hands. *SWOON*
What a way to end the season!
