Ask and ye shall receive! My good buddy Kerry is a big Ducks fan. He recently heard a rumor about Bobby Ryan possibly coming here. So, he requested some pictures of Bobby Ryan. I am happy to oblige. Only problem....I don't have many pictures of him. I was on a George Parros mission. This is really the only good picture I have of Bobby.
Most people know Bobby as "the guy drafted #2 after Sidney Crosby." Bobby did do a little seasoning in the AHL, but is really proving himself now. Last season the right winger scored 64 points with the Ducks, 35 goals and 29 assists. So this is pretty much a "Bobby Ryan Photo Fail."
Oh look, there he is in the back.
Skating up the ice towards our goal.
Bobby is out there working hard with Getzlaf.
Bobby hovering around our net waiting for the chance to pop it in.
Bobby deep in his own zone.
Headed back towards Moose. (BTW, what is Slater so happy about?)
One of the coolest things I got to do last season was be at the practice facility when the Pittsburgh Penguins came to town. They were outside playing soccer and I got this picture of Geno.
Geno is checking Ron Hainsey out. Even Malkin is jealous of Hainsey's hair.
Geno is one of the funniest stretchers I've seen in the NHL. He sits down and stretches his legs out...
then in. Then over again.
Then he puts his legs in the air, over his head.
Geno on the bench with the team.
Marisa was one of the lucky few who was able to get their photo with Evgeni at the practice.
What does Max Talbot have to do with Ovie? Turns out he hates the guy. He actually calls him a douche bag. Whether Max is a marketing genius and starting the hype for the Winter Classic or maybe he just really hates him, it's worth a listen. Besides, it's always nice to listen to Max talk. http://www.wxdx.com/cc-common/podcast.html
On this edition of Super Star Tuesday, I am featuring Alexander Ovechkin from our fierce division rival, the Washington Capitals.
Ovie is controversial and polarizing, but you can't deny his skill. He is also the subject of one of my favorite hockey commercials
And featured in my all time favorite hockey commercial:
I'm telling you after that commercial "chicken corndogs" was a joke for weeks.
He was also one of my favorite players featured on the kiss cam. I love a guy with a sense of humor that can laugh at himself!
We see quite a bit of Ovie as he is in our division, three times a season to be exact. Here he is with his shiny new "C."
Hanging out waiting for warm ups to get going.
There is a reason Ovie was smiling on the kiss cam, he is always watching our in-arena videos. I guess he finds them entertaining.
Or, maybe he's making sure there are no more of these popping up
Even this video turned into controversy as Bruce Boudreau didn't find the video amusing and thought it was in poor taste. Ovie doesn't look like he minded too much while he was watching it!
Ovie can be a dirty bastard, he ends up here sometimes.
I was looking at my pictures and having a hard time finding Ovie. I realized that normally I sit closer and point the camera at the goal. You can't cherry pick there! So I looked at some pictures where I sat farther back and my camera a shot of more of the ice...and I found him :)
Todd White and Toby Enstrom are hauling ass to the Washington end, Ovie is gonna hang out near Pavs a bit longer.
Ovie: Video not funny. Army: Dude, it was just a joke. Ovie: Ovie no laugh. Army: Lighten up. Besides, what where you thinking, that commercial was awful. Ovie: Eastern Motors good company, are you listenin' man?
Maybe Kane is considering one-punching Ovie.
Cherry successfully picked and Ovie is off to the races.
Looks like Kubina got a piece of that one!
Like him or hate him, Ovie is a super star and can be a lot of fun to watch.
Since I featured Dwayne Roloson I thought I would feature his co-netminder from last season, Marty Biron, in Super Star Tuesday. I've always loved Marty, okay most of it is because of his amazing eyes. The other part is because he's a chatty goalie.
It was starting to look like I'd never get to take pictures of Marty actually playing. In the 2008-09 season, he was with the Philadelphia Flyers, his back up was AnteroNiittymaki. If there is one thing that is certain, if Niitty is with a team against the Thrashers, he's gonna play. He has a career 16-0 record against the Thrashers. When the Islanders came to town, I was hoping I'd get to see Marty play, but alas Roli was in net. When they came through again, Roli started. UGH! Well we chased Roli from the net pretty early and in came Biron! FINALLY! So I went over board with pictures on this post.
Marty catching up with his old friend, Eric Boulton (they played in Buffalo together)
Marty and his stick.
A nice shot of his gorgeous eyes.
An even better shot.
Marty looking confused.
Seeing some shots.
Seeing some rubber.
Catching up with another Buffalo buddy, Max Afinogenov.
I'm a 39 year old rabid hockey fan in Atlanta. I'm originally from Mobile. I've been devastated by the loss of my Thrashers, but I'm trying to keep this blog going. I love to take pictures at hockey games. If you like crappy pictures, puckbunny comments and dumb jokes...you'll love my blog.
