Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting: Chris Thorburn vs Mike Brown

January 10, 2010 saw a peculiar fight between Chris Thorburn and Mike Brown of the Anaheim Ducks.



The guys sizing each other up, doing the usual hugging.



Fists start flying.



Brown starts to go down...Thor drags him back up. Or they are ballroom dancing and he dips his partner.



Brown gets some punches on Thor.



The action goes back and forth.



More hugging.



The guys are looking gassed.

Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting: Ron Hainsey vs Keith Ballard

I know this is a little late, but better late than never.
On February 6, 2010, the Florida Panthers were feeling pretty good in the 2nd period against the Thrashers. They had a 2-0 lead and things were going their way. Brian McCabe took a slashing penalty which lead to a Thrashers power play, which led to a goal by Afinogenov and eventually led to the Thrashers turning that ship around and winning the game 4-2. Well Keith Ballard, his own goalie's worst nightmare, got a little pissy and decided he needed to go with someone. At least he decided to fight instead of maiming his own goalie this time.



Neither of these guys are big fighters. Hainsey prefers to keep his hair looking nice and Ballard prefers to throw tantrums that result in teammates being injured.

Hainsey: I didn't like the way you were looking at my goalie
Ballard: I only injury my OWN goalie. By the way, your hair looks awesome.
Hainsey: Thanks man!



It took these two forever to finally lock up, and when they did, it didn't last long. Hainsey is assuming the position.

Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting

March 20, 2010: Eric Boulton vs Ian Laperriere
These two guys are no strangers to a fight, hell they are no strangers to fighting EACH OTHER! This is a battle of the #1s. Eric Boulton led the Thrashers in the 2009-10 season with 13 fights. He also became the all time team leader in penalty minutes, surpassing Jeff Odgers. Lappy, not to be outdone, led the Flyers with 25 fights. Hell, Lappy only had 25 less fights than ALL of the Thrashers combined last season.

Not a great fight, but it's always fun to see these two guys go at it. I could totally see them having a beer after wards. Though Boultsie was the more active pugilist, it was pretty much a draw as not much was landed. You can watch here and decide for yourself.

I see that this feature could easily be renamed "Eric Boulton Fight of the Week." While I know my buddy Sandy would love that, variety is the spice of life. So this week I give you:

Jim Slater vs Daniel Carcillo

Carcillo did something to rile up Jimmy. I can't imagine what he did, Dan is just a personable, nice guy.



Daniel pissed him off pretty good, Slater has crazy eyes.



BLAM!!!! Right in the back of the head.

In our first installment of "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" we have a preseason bout between hot prospect, Arturs Kulda and Cody Franson of the Nashville Predators.
