All We Do Is Put Wins In The Record Book: Panthers vs Thrashers

Welcome to the Charlie Sheen edition of Getting Pucks Deep! Why? Well DUH! Charlie Sheen and hockey go together like Charlie Sheen and porn stars. Be sure and have the Cup tested!

I'm going to try hard to get it out of my system in this post. I will beat a meme to death if I'm not careful.
Check Spelling
At the game I had my signs. In non-Sheen related news, I had a sign for Burmistrov who was finally back on the ice.

This was also on the glass during warm ups Saturday. Someone left it on the glass in club. Bad form. Make a sign saying whatever you want, you bought a ticket. If you are taking a dig at someone, have the balls to stand with the sign. It’s hard to see from here but it is a dating profile from Anthony Stewart at "Plenty of Fish." Don’t know if it’s real or not. At the bottom it says “enuff scoring on land…score on the ice!” The guys were giving him hell about it. Buff skated out, saw it and started laughing.

The guys giving Anthony shit about his sign.

Alex is checking out the sign I made him. Tim is dumbfounded by the bi-winning nature of my Sheen signs.

Stuart taking a break. Our old friend, Marty Reasoner, cruises around in the back.

Dvorak looks pretty excited about taking on his old team.

New Thrasher, Blake Wheeler. We need him and we need his wisdom and his bitchin'-ness."

Evander chewing his gum.

Nik might need a trim. The wings are little long.

I felt bad because Pavs was back after injury, too and I had no sign! Sorry Pavs! I didn't know. I wonder how he came back from that wrist injury so soon. I bet he closed his eyes and made it so with the power of his mind.

So many people hate on Johnny. I think he's an awesome Dman. When he goofs up, he's usually skilled enough to fix it. I think playing with Stuart now people will see that he is actually a good player. He wins so radically in his underwear before his first cup of coffee, it's scary.

Randy and I were originally up in our favorite spot in 303 when Thrash came and upgraded us to 113. He's a good bird!

We are up in Vokoun's grill early. Vokoun has a 10,000-year-old brain and the boogers of a 7-year-old.

This is fail on several fronts. First of all, not only is it a fake, it's a bad fake. Wanna get knock off? Fine, get one that is in the same realm of blue. This one is just awful and I've seen a lot of them around the arena. Funny enough they are all Byfuglien jerseys. Also...tucked in??? I know it's the south but damn. Don't tuck your jersey in. If you wear this once, you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body.

Hainsey keeping those nasty Panthers out of our zone.

This is something you never want to see, or maybe you are sick and do want to see it. I will say in all of the games I've been to, this is the first time I've seen someone get struck in the head with a puck. It was pretty scary. The people near him were waving down the ushers and EMT. One of the trainers on the bench threw a towel over to them. He was able to walk up the stairs, so I guess that's a good thing!

Hainsey doing his customary pre 3rd period stretch. It's the first time I've been in front of him doing it. He smiled at the kids on the front and took off like a flash. You can't process Hainsey with a normal brain.

Wheeler is the man! He obviously has Adonis DNA. He hasn't been subjected to the culture of LOSE long enough. We'll suck that out of him soon.

Toby finds a place to put his helmet while fixing his hair.

Buff comes behind the net while Vokoun takes a stroll.

All manner of chaos in front of Vokoun.

This is a shitty picture of Bryan Little almost getting a goal. Everyone thought it went in. It actually rolled right down the red line. You can see Mr. Fred's amazing sequence of the events here: http://fans.thrashers.nhl.com/community/topic/16985-if-any-of-you-dont-think-that-little-is-snakebitten/

Twenty five seconds into over time, Captain Ladd sticks one in the net and Thrashers win!!

Home win with no travel = poorly lit, behind glass post game show guest! Tonight is one of the newest Thrashers and totally bitching rock star from Mars, Blake Wheeler!

Blake talked with the guys for a while and answered questions before heading out to meet the fans.

People of Blueland are not limited to the arena! This lady in front of me was getting on my nerves big time. First of all she was puffing away on one of those e-cigg things. I don't know what the tobacco ration is, but she smoked the equivalent of like 35 cigarettes with it. I think she was q bit tipsy, her speech was slurred. She took 100 pictures of Dan Kamak, John Kincade and the audio techs with her shitty camera phone. Then she got up and announced loudly "I gotta pee" and stumbled off.

Dustin Byfuglien Deal Update...throw in the Crabber

Well the Byfuglien deal is official! There is one more person the Thrashers is losing though, Joey Crabb! We didn't see much of Joey this season, but he played 29 games with us last season (2008-09)

So the final deal stands as Marty Reasoner, prospect Jeremy Morin, Joey Crabb, a first round pick from the Devils (thanks Kovy) 24th overall, and a 2nd round pick (54th overall) also from the Devils to Chicago. In return we get Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Soppel and prospect Akim Ailu.

Good luck, Joey! You will be missed.

Big Buff is Coming to Atlanta

Welcome to Atlanta, Byfuglien!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and the others as well. I'm thrilled to have all of the new Thrashers, but if you follow this blog, you know I am a HUGE Buff fan...and he's mine(ours) now!!! Did you hear that? That sound is Roberto Luongo saying prayers of thanks.

In this trade Atlanta gets Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Soppel and prospect Akem Ailu.

Now for the sad part :(

We traded Marty Reasoner. I love Marty Reasoner. He's awesome. I was thinking he might make a nice captain. Farewell Marty, you will always have fans here.

Also lost in this trade is Jeremy Morin. While I feel sad to see Marty go because I like him, I'm sad to see Morin go because I think he's got a good future. He had a great season and helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in the World Juniors.

Thrashers Morning Skate

Members of the Atlanta Thrashers Fan Club were offered a very cool experience this morning. Members were invited to view the Thrashers game day morning skate, which they are usually not allowed to do.

Pavs was all smiles!

Boultsie is stretching out.

Chelios getting those old bones going!

Pevs and Boulton chatting, probably wondering "what the hell are those fans doing here?"

Lots of chatter.

Ronsy running his mouth, as always.

Johnny was there, oh was he?

Moose is stretching and Marty is making a monkey face.

Assistant Coach Randy Cunneyworth works with Slater and Reasoner on face offs.

It's kind of a cool thing to see if you've never done it. I would have liked to watched the Flyers, too but apparently they don't allow non-media into their morning skate. Fine, be that way. I did see Riley Cote poke his head out. I didn't recognize him with the hair cut. I should have known by the tats. I saw Scotty Hartnell, too. You can't miss that mop!

Hockey Photo of the Day

I just noticed how the puck hasn't hit the ice yet...much like the state of hockey at the moment. DEEP!

The Reason for the Season

Woo Hoo! Good news in Blueland. The Thrashers re-signed Marty Reasoner to a 2 year contract. Marty had a good first season with the Thrashers scoring 14 goals and 16 assists. Finishing the season as a +11, he also had 1 shorthanded goal and 2 game winning goals.

In addition to his on ice success with the team, Marty was a hit in the locker room. He won the Player's Player award this season. An award voted on by his team members, Marty said it was one of the highlights of his career. Even though Marty is only 32, he will offer a veteran presence to the very young Thrashers team.

Marty also has some attachment to Atlanta since his daughter was born here.
You can read more about the signing on the Thrashers website: http://thrashers.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=425054

Way to go Thrashers! We are thrilled to have Marty signed.

Also very exciting, the Thrashers signed Anssi Salmela to a multi-year contract. The Thrashers acquired Anssi from the New Jersey Devils when the Thrashers traded Niclas Havelid.

Keep up the good work, Thrashers!

Thrashers Casino Night

Every year the Atlanta Thrashers have a Casino Night fund raiser for the thier charity, the Atlanta Thrasers Foundation. For a mere $200 you can have a night of faux casino fun with the players from the Atlanta Thrashers as your dealers. Open bar and fantastic food are included, too. Of course no women eat at functions like that because we want everyone to think we are delicate creatures that never eat.

The players are introduced numerically. That means my favorite, Johan Hedberg, comes out first. Then comes Exelby and so on.

Moose looks like he's worried about tonight.

"I don't think my number one fan is going to be able to get a spot at my table."

Ex said "I saw her back there looking for Bobo's table."

Moose said "Liar."

On the right hand of the stage
Very back row: Our newest Thrasher, Peverly.
Middle Row: Havelic, Lehtonen, Boulton, ?, Coach Anderson
Front row: 1/2 of Perrin, White, Kozlov, Williams

Finally!!!!! We have a captain. Some don't agree with the move because it's so possible that Kovy could be leaving and there goes yet another Thrashers captain. It was a festive announcement last night though. That jersey was later auctioned off for almost $3000.

After all the players were announced, we hit the gambling floor. Moose's table was filled 30 minutes before he ever got there :( I did however get to hang out with Boris Valabik. I love me some Bobo. He and Slater were having a ton of fun and helped teach me to play roulette. Slater even let me spin the ball!

Here is Bobo and Slater learning the ropes.

*Swoon* there just aren't words. Total puck bunny moment

Crusher!

The Crabb Shack! Joey Crabb was very good for my friend and date for the night. She was quite lucky at his black jack table.

Oystrick on the other hand, while looking smoking hot in the tux, sucked the money right out of our pockets.

Marty Reasoner looked up right as I was taking the picture and posed for me.

Ah, Ron Hainsey. I managed to get a shot of him through the masses of adoring females that were crowding his table.

Looks like he is concentrating so hard!

In the other room, Slava looks like he would rather have a root canal than be there. He's so stoic.

Ex is looking dapper as ever with his fasionable hat. That is not a feather coming out of the hat, it's part of a display.

An Army of adorable at this table. He was a ton of fun. He seems like he'd be cool to hang out with.

We stopped by the table of our newest Thrasher, Rich Peverly, and welcomed him to Atlanta. He returned the favor with some good hands of cards.

Ah...my Moose. I managed to get a peek at him through the hysteria at his table.

Goalies sticking together, at the table next to the Moose was our big Fin, Kari Lehtonen.

I eventually gave all of my chips to my friend because she was much better. I just chatted with players and fans and watched. When we were done, we cashed in our chips and started harassing players for pictures. They were all great about it. We made sure not to interrupt conversations and thanked them profusely when done. I guess they know it's part of the drill. Waiting outside men's bathroom might have been a bit much, just kidding. Not really. Okay it wasn't OUTSIDE the men's bathroom...just near it.

This is my favorite picture I took all night. This is my friend and date for the night with Garnet Exelby. I love the pic because you can see her tattoos and all of the tickets she had won.

Colby Armstrong was behind the dealers' table and it was hard to get a picture with him. We had to lean across. NOT flattering. You can see up my nose, too. Great.

*SWOON* This is essentially 1/2 of the reason I paid $200 to go. A picture with Bobo, my favorite non-goalie player. He was so nice. I had to retake the picture because the first one goofed up.

Who doesn't love a tough boy? Me and our team muscle, Eric Boulton. Love the black eye!

Kaptain my Kaptain! Me and Kovy.

GOALIE HEAVEN!!!!!
Me and the big Fin, Kari Lehtonen

The other 1/2 of why I went, my Moooooooooooose!

Me and Bryan Little who was just named to the Young Star Roster.

Me and Ron Hainsey! He liked my camera.

Me, my friend and the hot ex-goalie and current color analyst for the Atlanta Thrashers.

Us with Rich Peverly
I had such a blast. This was my first year so I was a little overwhelmed. I can't wait for next year. Next year I plan on bellying up to the Moose's table early so I can have some 1 on 1 time with him. I plan on wearing more comfortable shoes. Lots of time to plan!
