In The Nest 2010 Draft Update

So let's take a peek inside the Thrashers' nest and see how our little baby Thrashers from the 2010 draft are doing.


Julian Melchiori (D)
Richmond Hill, Ontario
6'3 186 lbs
3rd round, 87th overall


Julian is with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL this season. He has played in 28 games so far and has 13 points, 1 goal and 12 assists. He also has 20 penalty minutes.





Ivan Telegin(C)
Novokuznetsk, Russia
6'2'' 194 lbs
4th Round, 101 overall
Ivan is also playing in the OHL. He plays with the Saginaw Spirit with fellow Thrashers prospect Ben Chiarot. Ivan has played in 26 games this season scoring 23 points (3 goals and 17 assists). One of the highlights of the season came in a game against the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds. Ivan was named the #1 Star of the game for having a 3 point night with 1 goal and 2 assists.





Fredrik Pettersson-Wentzel(G)
Uppsala, Sweden
6'1" 169lbs
5th Round, 128th overall

Fredrik is playing in the second best league in Sweden, HockeyAllsvenskan, for Almtuna. He has played in 15 games this season and has a GAA of 2.87 and a SV% of .896. Fredrik has been invited to the training camp for the World Junior U20 Championship this season. Good luck, Freddy!





Yasin Cisse (pronounced See-Say) (RW)
Westmount, Quebec
6'3" 210lbs
5th Round, 150 overall

Bad news about Yasin. On October 9 in the season opener for Boston University, Cisse was injured. He later had surgery to repair an ankle tendon and will be out the rest of the season. Interesting note, this is the SAME injury and surgery that cut his 2009-10 season with the USHL Des Moines Buccaneers short. Get well, Yasin!





Kendall McFaull (pronounced Mic-Fall) (D)
Rosetown, Saskatchewan
6'2" 187lbs
6th Round, 155th overall

Time for some Western love! Kendall plays for the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL. Kendall appears to be struggling this season. In his 30 games played with the Warriors, he only has 1 point, an assist. He does have 53 penalty minutes. Get it going, Kendall!





Tanner Lane (C)
Detroit Lakes, Minnesota
6'2'' 172lbs
6th Round, 160th overall

Tanner is playing for the Fargo Force of the USHL. In 23 games, he has scored 4 points (1 goal 3 assists) and has 8 penalty minutes.



He's not been a scoring machine, but he does love the Thrashers, spaghetti and Miley Cyrus.






Sebastian Owuya (D)
Stockholm, Sweden
6'3'' 201lbs
6th Round, 169th overall


Sebastian is also in the WHL playing for their Medicine Hat Tigers. Sebastian has played in 27 games and has 6 points, all assists. Two of those points came in one game when on October 22 he assisted on two goals against the Prince Albert Raiders.





Peter Stoykewych (D)
Winnipeg, Manitoba
6'3'' 188lbs
7th Round, 199 overall


Peter is in the USHL playing for the Des Moines Buccaneers. In 16 games Peter has scored 3 points.


Well it looks like a lot of our babies are off to slow starts. Good luck guys, we are pulling for you!

Day 2 of Training Camp!

I headed back to Duluth this morning, man it's a lot farther now. (I moved) It was worth it though! Without any pesky wedding, I could watch all of the camp. The day started out as Day 1 did with scrimmage.

I like this one. You can see his pretty eyes and his mask. It seems that everyone unanimously loves this mask. It's growing on me. I prefer a busier mask.



Like McIntyre! He has his usual Potato Head on there, but this one has an afro, lipstick and gold hoop earrings. Maybe she is a disco Potato head! If you missed it, he has a Potato Head on his mask because he's from Prince Edward Island and they produce potatoes. He also has Carebears on the back of his mask representing his wife and kids.

It thrilled me to no end that Owuya and Oduya were on the ice together. I was far more thrilled than an adult woman should be over this.

Once the scrimmage was done, 2 teams did drills on the main ice and the 3rd team did drills over on the other ice. Slater was listed as injured, but he participated in drills.

Two blissful mornings spent at Duluth Ice Rink! I wish I could go the rest of the week, but I'm glad I have a job to prevent that! Our first preseason game is Tuesday and I can barely wait!!

Thrashers Training Camp: Day 8

And on the 8th day, God made hockey :) Even for a Sunday morning, the Duluth Ice Forum was hopping with activity and fans. Camp time was changed at the last minute from 10:00 to 10:30, but people hung around.




Every post on this blog should start with a good goalie pic.





The guys did a drill where some had to play with the other end of the stick, it helped the guys fine tune their skills getting their stick on the puck.





After some drills, the guys divided up into teams for a scrimmage. They had to change up jersey colors to even the teams up. Oh yeah, I went "there."

Kubina got either a stick or puck in the face. It was bleeding a little and they iced it down. It wouldn't be until the preseason game against Carolina that we would get to see the full beauty of the injury.
