Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting: Ron Hainsey vs Keith Ballard
I know this is a little late, but better late than never.
On February 6, 2010, the Florida Panthers were feeling pretty good in the 2nd period against the Thrashers. They had a 2-0 lead and things were going their way. Brian McCabe took a slashing penalty which lead to a Thrashers power play, which led to a goal by Afinogenov and eventually led to the Thrashers turning that ship around and winning the game 4-2. Well Keith Ballard, his own goalie's worst nightmare, got a little pissy and decided he needed to go with someone. At least he decided to fight instead of maiming his own goalie this time.
Neither of these guys are big fighters. Hainsey prefers to keep his hair looking nice and Ballard prefers to throw tantrums that result in teammates being injured.
Hainsey carefully taking off his helmet.
Hainsey: I didn't like the way you were looking at my goalie
Ballard: I only injury my OWN goalie. By the way, your hair looks awesome.
Hainsey: Thanks man!
It took these two forever to finally lock up, and when they did, it didn't last long. Hainsey is assuming the position.
Hainsey getting his hands on Ballard. Notice the dramatic hair flying.
Hugging.
More hugging. I think Ballard tried to smell Hainsey's hair.
Ron gets his fist loose and throws a punch.
Fist to head in 3...2...1
Another shot to the head.
Hainsey puts him in a headlock.
Is this NHL or WWE?
Bulldog headlock!
Refs move in to break it up.
Ballard getting some shampoo and styling products advice.
In the box!
This was Hainsey's only fight this season. You can watch it here:
If you are wondering when I will stop making Ballard/Vokoun jokes.....NEVER!!! Or at least as long as Ballard and Vokoun are on the same team...maybe a little after.

Ugh! Ballard's such a douche!!
And wasn't he sent to the Canucks?!? Glad he's on the other coast, but I don't like that he's on a winning team... that bum LOL
Jane, you are correct! I'd completely forgotten about that. Look out, Lu!
So that means I will continue to make Ballard jokes PAST when he leaves the team lol.
Ballard jokes work at all times for me!! LOL
Keith Ballard jokes will never get old! V, I have to have a copy of the one titled "Fist to head in 3...2...1" I wanna get him to sign one. This was the night I gave Slater his award and I saw Hainsey in front of the locker room. He came walking out and stopped to say hello ( a lesser known fact, we are BFF's ) and I said what was up with the fight and he goes " I know right? " and chuckled. Oh and FYI, he gave me the number to his hair stylist, lol.
