Congratulations Marty! You are #1
Welcome to the probably the worst post you will ever see on this blog. Yes, that’s right, I went there…I took photos of the tv. Yes, I’m embarrassed about it, but still glad I did it. It was history damn it! What were my other options, watch the NHL/NHL refs/Penguins vs my Thrashers? Do we even have any Wolves left to call up? Back to Marty.
In a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks Martin Brodeur surpassed Patrick Roy to become the winningest goalie of all time with his 552nd win. Whether you believe he is the greatest goalie EVER (like me) or not, you can’t argue with the number of wins. Nice job Marty!
Things I learned from watching this game:
· Jersey fans CAN fill an arena
· You need more than crafting scissors to cut the net off of an NHL goal
· Denis Brodeur is the cutest little old man ever
· Marty has a great smile (sorry, puck bunny moment)
So yes, I took pictures of the tv. This is a photoblog, so I had to have photos! Nobody wants to hear me just blather on, so I had to have some visuals. Yes, that’s a great reason. On to the fantastic photos.
You're the man, Marty!
Marty has removed his mask and put on the NJ Devils ball cap. He doesn’t have to wear that much as he never sits on the bench. Somebody wake up Weekesie so he can see this moment in history.
In an homage to Patrick Roy’s actions after he beat Sawchuck’s record, Marty wanted to cut the netting from his crease. He pulls out your normal pair of orange handled scissors and goes to work. I was actually getting nervous. I could see Marty slipping and hacking into an artery or something. *shudder* Finally, in a move that really shows how much his teammates love him, they came over and cut the net for him so he could take a victory lap and thank the crowd.
Victory! The net is free.
