Congratulations Simeon Varlamov
The Caps turned to Simeon for help when Jose couldn't get his grove back. He performed well in the second game despite losing, but went lights out in the third game stoning the Rangers and stopping all 33 shots. Simeon is the youngest (age 20) goaltender to shutout New York at Madison Square Garden in the post-season EVER.
Varlamov joined Bob Mason as just the second rookie goaltender ever to pitch a postseason shutout for the Capitals.
When Varly relieved Jose Theodore in Blueland on March 16, nobody even knew who he was. His name wasn't even on the roster. We all know now!
Nice job, Simeon!
