A New Day For My Blog
I created this blog because I had about a bazillion (yes bazillion) pictures that I take at Thrashers games. I originally was sharing them with my scrapbooking buddies on 2peas and a few on the Thrashes board. So at the beginning of the year I got this blog to make it easier to share.
I have fun taking them and people seem to enjoy looking at them. I never by any stretch of the imagination considered them pro or thought about watermarking them or anything. In fact, I kind of laughed when non-pros did it. Now I understand.
I've found a picture I took at casino night of Marty Reasoner on 2 other blogs. I also found a picture of Zach Bogosian I took at the post game show on some blog talking about hockey player girlfriends. The Marty picture really ticked me off because I felt like it was my shot. He looked at me, posed for me and it was mine. It wasn't some on-ice action shot that 200 people probably have a better version of, it was kind of personal. And what really chapped my hide was that the second site to use the picture of Marty actually credited the blog that "borrowed" it. AGH!
Great week for me, I lose my job AND someone steals my pictures. Woe is me :p
So that leads me to the change. I'm going to start watermarking my images. I'm not good at this and it looks crappy. Here are some examples.
In honor of the Stanley Cup Play offs..... GO FLOWER!

My most beloved and photographed player, Moooooooooooooose.
All the images that have been "borrowed" (without permission) have been close up shots like this. In fact, this is from the same night that one of the other pics was from. I might just watermark these at first.
Anyway, so that's the change. Dumb little watermarks. I'm still working on how they look. I'm not sure if I like the year in the water mark or not. I'm also looking for some good verbiage for my site to the extent of "these pictures are my pride and joy. I love taking them and work very hard doing so. Don't fucking steal them. If you want to use them, ask. I'd be flattered. Thank you :)"
If you have any ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Leave them in the comment section for me.
Someone said I should add the copyright logo on the watermark, so here is something close to probably what the final will be. I mean anyone can edit anything out if you are good enough, but I guess that's about as good as I can do.

I'm sorry someone stole your pictures, Sunshine. I can certainly relate. I used to be 'friends' with some girls who had a bunch of Yahoo groups for different players in Phoenix and after begging me for copies of my photos, they posted them to their sites, never giving me credit. They seemed to think saying the photo was given to them meant they owned the copyright. Uhm...no. One time, I gave some photos to one girl and she turned around and made copies then gave the copies to one of the players' wives and took credit for them. I happened to be at the game she did this at and when the wife thanked her I asked what picutres were those and it came out they were MINE.

How much would a decent amount of minutes, a lot of texts, and unlimited internet/email cost per month for an iphone 3g?
