Long Over Due In The Nest Report
I've been remiss in following up with our babies this season. Now that most of their seasons are almost over, let's see how they have been doing.
Julian Melchiori (D)
Richmond Hill, Ontario
Kitchener Rangers (OHL)
6'3 186 lbs
3rd round, 87th overall
This big D man played in 63 games for the Rangers this year. Although he only has one goal, his talent for play making seems to be a bit better as he had 18 assists. He also had 55 penalty minutes.
Ivan Telegin(C)
Novokuznetsk, Russia
Saginaw Spirit (OHL)
6'2'' 194 lbs
4th Round, 101 overall
Ivan is having a great year with the spirit. A team mate of fellow Thrasher Ben Chiarot, Ivan has played in 56 games this season and has 57 points (19 goals 38 assists). He is in the running for finishing the season as the lead scorer for the Spirit. On March 4, Ivan assisted on 3 goals to lead the Spirit to a 5-4 victory over the Plymouth Whalers. He was named the 3rd star of the game.
Fredrik Pettersson-Wentzel(G)
Uppsala, Sweden
Almtuna
6'1" 169lbs
5th Round, 128th overall
Freddie is hot stuff this season! Fredrik played in the second best league in Sweden, HockeyAllsvenskan, for Almtuna. He put up decent numbers with Almtuna (.895 SV% and 2.94 GA) and is now on loan to another club, Timra. Timra is pleased with his performance and is hoping to keep him, but several other clubs in the leagues have expressed interest. It' good to have options! Fredrik also had a strong showing in the WJC U20. He played 3 games and backed up Ottawa Senators property, Robin Lehner.
Yasin Cisse (pronounced See-Say) (RW)
Westmount, Quebec
Boston University
6'3" 210lbs
5th Round, 150 overall
Unfortunately Yasin missed the season due to injury. !
Kendall McFaull (pronounced Mic-Fall) (D)
Rosetown, Saskatchewan
Moose Jaw Warriors
6'2" 187lbs
6th Round, 155th overall
Having won the WHL Rookie of the Year in 2010, Kendall followed up with another strong season and is in the running for "Defensive Player of the Year" on his team. While keeping the crease clean he managed to notch 7 points as well.
Tanner Lane (C)
Detroit Lakes, Minnesota
Fargo Force (USHL)
6'2'' 172lbs
6th Round, 160th overall
In 50 games with the Force this season, Tanner scored 11 points.
Sebastian Owuya (D)
Stockholm, Sweden
Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL)
6'3'' 201lbs
6th Round, 169th overall
Sebastian previously played in the Swedish Junior Super Elite league with Freddie's current team Timra. This is his first season with the Tigers, he was drafted 40th overall. He finished the season a plus-8 and having 10 points.
Peter Stoykewych (D)
Winnipeg, Manitoba
6'3'' 188lbs
7th Round, 199 overall
Peter played in 46 games this season, scoring 8 points. Two of those points came in one big night for Peter back in October when he had a 2 point night with a goal and an assist against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Go babies go!
