Citizen Kane Becoming More Of A Possibility
Kane scored his 2nd NHL goal last night against the greatest goal tender of all time, Marty Brodeur. This was good enough to put him and the Thrashers on the front page of the NHL, something the Thrashers don't see much of and certainly not with someone besides Kovalchuk. Way to go Kaner! That goal way made up for those 2 penalties you took.
So how well is Kaner doing compared to his fellow top draft pics? Pretty darn good.
* Tavares - the kid seems to be the real deal. I believe the hype! The left winger has played in 5 games this season and has scored 6 points, (3 goals and 3 assists). He is also a +1, not too shabby on an Islanders team that has not won a game yet.
* Hedman - the big defenseman has played in all 6 games for Tampa Bay and has 4 points (all assists). I was lucky enough to see his first NHL point scored!
* Duchene - The Avalanche are enjoying some early success this season. A large part of that is due to them finally having some reliable goal tending in Craig Anderson. Matt Duchene, a center, is trying to do his part, too. He's played in all 7 games and has 3 points (3 assists).
Then there is our Evander! Evander has played in all 4 of our games and has scored 2 goals and 1 assist for a total of 3 points. Among the top 4 draft pics Evander is second in goals scored and third in total points, but remember he has only played in 4 games, the fewest of all of the pics.
With each game it becomes less and less likely that Evander is going anywhere!
Also in the picture above, note the headline I outlined. The Thrashers are going to Elmira to check out the new Dan Snyder Community Center. It's a great read if you haven't already checked it out:
