A sad farewell to the Oklahoma City Blazers
This post is for my good buddy, Candace who has had a rough few days this week. First she finds out that her BELOVED Ian LaPerriere is going to the #1 rivals of her favorite team. (He's going to Philly and she's a Pens nut). Now she finds out that the team she has been following for over 15 years will not be back next year.
Oklahoma City has been hoping to bring in an AHL team and are in talks with the Edmonton Oilers about a dormant team that they own, but there is no guarantee. So, to clear the way for this possibility, the Blazers suspended operations after failing to renew their lease. The Blazers won CHL titles in 1996 and 2001. They also frequently led all North American Minor League Hockey in attendance.

These pictures have totally been ripped off from Candace's blog, but I don't think she'll mind.
I never saw the Blazers play, but Candace did send me all kinds off goodies and pictures from the team. I know how much she loved them and it's always very sad to lose your team. Farewell Blazers! Good luck to the all the players who are now free agents. May hockey find your way again very soon, Candace and the rest of Blazer fans.

Sorry to hear this. it sucks when your team moves, it happened to me when the Whalers moved to Carolina.
Hopefully you get an AHL team soon.
V, this was the sweetest thing ever to see. I couldn't comment when I first read it, as the tears just wouldn't stop at that point.
Guess I'll be posting a lot MORE Blazer pics on my blog this summer, as I go through mountains of memories.
Thanks again for that, babe.
