An Eventful Practice
I love going to practice. It's free. I get to watch the guys skate and do drills. Most importantly, it gets my unemployed ass up out of the bed at an early hour. Practice was this morning at 10:00 a.m. and I was excited to go!
I got there about 9:05 and apparently had already missed some action. Jim Slater decide he didn't like this pane of glass much. I missed the crash, when I got there, Jimmy was banging on it with his stick.
Randy Cunneyworth doing some janitorial work.
A few minutes later Todd White left the ice and walked out the front door. I thought "Damn, Whitey has had it with this place." Then I realized that the rest of the team were following him. It was a Thrashers parade! The were headed over to the other rink. We all followed. The other rink is much darker and even harder to take pictures at (great). There also several dozen people waiting to enjoy the skating rink. Too bad! It's a Moose zone now.
With all the insanity of the Kovy Kontract Kontroversy, I figured I'd better get some pictures of him while I can, just in case!
I like this picture of Boultsie pushing on Kovy.
Moose watching the action go by.
Then just as quickly as they'd left the first rink, they marched off of the this one. The crowd followed. It was like musical practice. The rink staff had a board covering the broken glass and the rink was ready.
I don't think the rink is ever ready for this! I'm sitting there watching and realize that there is a fight!
It's Boris Valabik and Chris Thorburn.
They were NOT horsing around and were very serious. Boris had the "Stank Eye" a/k/a "The Slovakian Death Stare" going in full effect.
Too bad someone who could take a picture worth a damn wasn't there. When it was all over, Thorburn was laughing. Boris was not. I'm sure everything is fine now. That's the beauty of guys. Girls get mad at one another and we plan, scheme, gossip and get even. Guys punch each other in the nose and they are done.
Look who snuck out while the boys were fighting!
Kari stretching it out.
Boris: Did you see that, I totally kicked Thorburn's ass?
Kari: That's not exactly the way I saw it.
Boris: What did you say? *stank eye*
Kari: I said I wasn't on the ice yet, I didn't see anything.
Kari did some butterfly slides and what I call "pin ball flippers." I'm sure that's not the official name for them, but that's what it looks like. He kicks his legs, flippy-flap...flippy-flap.
On the other end of the ice, Zach Bogosian is going all Tiger Williams and riding his stick.
Yes Bogo, we see you!
It was very exciting to see Kari taking shots from Evander Kane and Jim Slater.
Kari was a little slow, but you could see he is making progress.
Kari diving after a puck.
Good to see you on the ice, Karpa! We anxiously await your return!

OK... so your pictures of Kari just made my day. He's my favorite. :)
Oh boys! I hope whatever was bugging Valabik and Thorburn is sorted out now...
btw, are you going to be at Wednesday's practice? A friend and I are planning to trek up there for it.
I'm sure they are fine! You know how boys are! I should have captioned one of the pictures "girls, girls you are both pretty!!"
I will more than likely be at practice. I look forward to seeing you!
Kari at this point is trade bait; nothing more.
Unless we are some how trading for a better goalie, I don't see how. The Pavs/Moose experiment has once again been unsuccessful.
Love the Bogo pics, and the fight...LOL. What can you say? Maybe Bobo insulted Thor's hair or something. :-P
I wish I had gotten a picture of it, but when Thor's helmet came off, you can clearly see that he is growing the fro back. I'm sure his wife said "get rid of it" last summer for the wedding.
Gah! You all are going to the wrong practice! I have a media pass for the Gladiators game on Friday and was contemplating going over there wayyyy early to see the big boys skate too.
Oh a media pass, I'm super jealous!! Does that mean you get a photo hole?
