The Best Part Of Waking Up Is Thrashers In Your Cup
Someone lit a fire under the Thrashers marketing department's ass (yes we actually have one apparently) for this "March to the Playoffs" promotion. Monday morning from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. various players were at different locations of am/pm. For those that don't know what that is, it is the inside food/beverage store found at many BP gas stations.
I had planned on going to practice anyway, but I was super lucky because one of the participating am/pm's was 1/2 mile down the road from where I live. Sweet! At my location was Slava Kozlov, Christoph Schubert, Nik Antropov, and assistant coach Steve Weeks.
My husband and Schubie chatted about soccer and the German Olympic hockey team.
They had several guys and gals there with the guys who were working they promotion. They were fabulous. A promotion guy, Slava and Nik were giving my husband a hard time for wearing an Avalanche hat. Then I busted him out and told them that it was because he got it on clearance.
I told Nik that I played black jack with him at Casino Night this year and that he was a great dealer.
My husband, who is from Connecticut, chatted with Steve Weeks a long time about Connecticut and the Whalers.
What a fun event. I really enjoyed having a bit of one-on-one time to chat with the guys and joke around. Great idea, Thrashers! Oh, and who knew, am/pm has kick-ass coffee!
Here is a video of the event. We got to the location after the cameras had left.

Too cool! This is one time I wouldn't have minded driving downtown for work so I could have chatted with Zach, Bryan and Bergsie at the am/pm on Spring.
Good to see the players out pressing the flesh and seemingly having a good time vending coffee!
Schubes is the best! He was so light-hearted and fun at Casino Night and had a big smile on his face every time we ran into him -- which seemed like every 5 minutes!
K-belle and I hope he stays and gets a new deal just because he seems like such a good character guy...and those crushing hits!!
Go Thrashers!!
PS -- good decision on the Oduya jersey! Now you can pin other things to the bottom of the jersey to spell phrases like: "Oduya want a picture?" ha ha lol
thats pretty cool, i never knew.this was even happening.
Times like this I don't like my 7:00-4:00 work schedule! Looks like you had a lot of a fun. And oh Slava, looking good. *G*
Q: where do you take your jerseys to get customized? And is it cheaper to buy a blank one and send it off?
Also, did you get a new haircut? It looks great! :)
How fun! Since I work from home, my commute is only from my bedroom down the hall. Can they bring me coffee anyway?
Nice chance to get a pic with Slava in case he gets traded. I dig Schubert. We chatted with him at Casino Night - cool guy, and with a last name like ours, we kind of have to cheer for the sole German Thrasher.
Probably most of Atlanta saw these guys wearing jerseys they had never seen before and asked, "Who the hell are you?"
I'm excited about the Oduya jersey, lol. So many possibilities.
Ally, I just go to the arena. The jersey WAS cheaper in Duluth, but with a STH discount at the arena it is a bit cheaper, but Duluth had a fat girl size I wanted and hadn't seen much at the arena (incidentally, it turned out to be a bit TOO big, but oh well, it's fine). A "kit" for a player personalization is $30, but if they don't have the kit for the player, you pay by the letter and number.
Beth, I'll ask my new friend Slava if he can swing by lol.
Wayne, I asked the Thrashers people the same thing lol. They said that surprisingly, they had had a lot of people come by and they knew who they were.
