Atlanta Thrashers vs Nashville Predators: First Prospect Game
I hate pulling against the Nashville Predators, but when they play my Thrashers, I have no choice. Tonight was the first of two prospect games between the teams. Tonight was actually sold out and there was a good crowd. The second one is in the middle of the day tomorrow and will probably be less crowded.
Thrash is ready for some action!
The guys swarm the goal during warm-ups. It was so cute to see the babies wearing their jerseys with their number and name.
Pred Babies during the anthem.
Whoopsie! Nasville's Santorelli takes a little tumble.
Peter Mannino doing a very majestic stretch.
Woo Hoo! Thrashers draw first blood and do a victory lap by the bench.
Don't forget to celebrate with the goalie! Wonder Twin Powers Activate!
Future super star Jonathan Blum. I had the great pleasure of standing by his aunt and uncle for the game. Super nice people.
Good luck, Mannino, you aren't going to see shit with big ass Ian McKenzie in front of you.
Get used to it Peter, yes I will have the camera in your face every time you play and I am there :)
Time for Nashville goalie Jeremy Smith to stretch.
Three little Preds all in a row.
Eric O'Dell lost his helmet during the action. A ref slid it over to the bench and Pospisil being ever the dutiful team mate fishes it off of the ice.
Headed for the net.
Taking some action to the Preds.
Ugh oh, the babies are grumpy. Maybe they need a nap.
Jeremy Smith wasn't having a lot of luck in net so enter Chet Pickard. Welcome to the game, Chet!
A Thrashers sandwich.
There it is! The puck is right there.
Some of the other guys came to watch the prospect game including Zach Bogosian, Spencer Machacek and Anthony Stewart. It was nice for Zach to come by and show support, since he's so grown up and all. Just last year he was "just a kid." Oh how time flies.
Evander was there, too. Blum's aunt was telling us that she knew Kane from Vancouver when he played with Jonathan. One big happy hockey family!
Peter getting refreshed. I was impressed with Mannino. He made some great saves. Sure he is an AHL caliber goalie playing with prospects, but I thought he did great. He was feisty, too. He was pushing people off of him and out of the way. Although one of my favorite things in the game was when Drew Parris saved Mannino by saving the puck which had become perilously close to the net.
More grumpy babies. Maybe they need a juice box or a time out.
Mannino ready for action.
Finally the grumpy babies had a melt down. Rylan Kaip and Nashville's Michael Latta finally come to blows.
Woo hoo! Thrashers win 6-3, but just for fun, we have a shoot out. I can't find a list of who scored and who did not, if I do, I will update. I did find that we won the shoot out with a goal by Levko Koper, I know my Levko Lovers will enjoy that.
Santorelli coming in on Mannino
Mannino trying to poke check away Ryan Ellis' shot on goal.
Mannino is really trying to impress me...ANOTHER poke check.
Okay, now some candy for my Levko Lovers.
Levko played really well. He didn't score any goals during the game, but did have two assists.
And of course, he scored in the shoot out.
More Levko
Face off Levko
He didn't score, but he did get off a nice shot on goal at the end.
Third day of camp and the 2nd Prospect Camp is tomorrow. I'm exhausted!
