Atlanta vs Carolina: Our First Home Preseason Game
In case some of you didn't know, Atlanta has been getting rained on for about the past 3 days and flash floods have pretty much washed the city off of the face of the world. Do you think that would stop me from going to the first home preseason game of the season? Hell no! So what entire streets were washed out. I'm nuts like that. I took the train and didn't have any issues.
So me and the roaring crowd of probably 2000 (official number was 4192 but no way in hell that many people were there) watched our Thrashers hit the ice in Phillips arena for the first time of the 2009-10 season.
My first Moose shot of the season! I'm coming to accept that he just might be serious about that mask.
Toby, Colby and Popovic line up in Hainsey's usual spot.
One of our new big boys, Pavel Kubina.
Horrible pic, but it's the only one where you can see his new black eye. This is the result of that picture I took at camp yesterday. It looked like a little cut in my picture, but it turned into a shiner quickly.
Manny is the happiest guy ever.
More chuckles for Manny while hanging with Kaptain Kovy.
I would SO love for this to be a regular site.
First face off of the new season!
Some action around Leighton. Leighton played very well. Great, that's just what Carolina needs is ANOTHER good goalie. At least Cam wasn't there. DAMN YOU CAM WARD!
More action in front of Leighton.
Moose and Toby guarding the crease.
Ref: No, Moose, I'm not falling for "pull my finger" again.
Moose: Come on, just once.
Leighton getting down to business.
Oh Thrash, I've missed your antics so!
At the end of the period Manny would tap everyone as they went by, leaving himself until last to go in.
Surely you aren't stepping up to Kaptain Kovy??
Leighton making a dramatic save.
Some discussion.
Moose and Manny chatting.
Come on Slater!
You knew it had to happen when the Slayer/Slater sign came out! Slater scored! It probably WAS scored with a high stick, but ah hell, who cares? It's the preseason.
Thrashers win 4-2. Winning kicks ass!
Go Thrashers!!

Great pics! Moose's lid is kind of mesmerizing. We braved the weather, too, but since we live 10 minutes away we didn't have to take a water taxi. Besides, how could I miss Slater's first goal of the season?! Thanks for snagging a shot of my banner-waving up in our lonely section. :)
When I saw the sign come out I knew it would be a good night for Jimmy! I was just mad they didn't put it on the jumbo tron.
