Focus on a Thrasher: Todd White
After a less than stellar first season (2007-08) with the Thrashers, fans weren't too excited about Todd White. With only 37 points for the season, he was kind of invisible. After being put on the Little White Russian Line for the 2008-09 season, Todd's numbers almost doubled. Will Whitey continue to have this success? I hope so!
Todd White was born on May 21, 1975 in Kanata, Ontario. Before heading off to college, he played junior hockey for the Kanata Valley Lazers of the CJHL.
Todd started college in 1993 at Clarkson University. Thrashers team mate Colby Armstrong might not be impressed with Whitey's college studies, but does admit Todd brings up their collective IQ a bit (this can be found in a video done by the team about the players who played college hockey, Army is being his silly self). Todd double majored while in Finance and Accounting.
In addition to getting his "learn" on, Todd played hockey all four season with the Golden Knights. He had a fantastic senior year, scoring 74 points and being a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award given to the top NCAA men's ice hockey player.
In 1997 when Todd was finished with college, he was signed by the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent. Todd spent most of the season with the Indianapolis Ice, but did make his NHL debut on October 4 against San Jose. He tallied his first NHL goal on October 31 against San Jose. He had good luck against those Sharks!
Todd split the 1998-99 season between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Wolves. He played 35 games with the Blackhawks scoring 13 points and 25 games with the Wolves, scoring 24 points. He also played in 10 post season games with the Wolves, scoring 5 points.
The 1999-00 season was a busy season for Todd. He played with the Blackhawks for one game before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for a conditional draft pick. He played three games with the Flyers and also saw time with the Philadelphia Phantoms and the Cleveland Lumberjacks.
On July 12, 2000, Todd signed as a free agent with the Ottawa Senators. He played 16 games for the Senators, scoring 4 goals. He spent most of that season as a Grand Rapids Griffin where he played 64 games and scored 54 points.
Todd spent the next three seasons with the Ottawa Senators, putting up impressive numbers.
2001-02 81 games played 50 points
2002-03 80 games played 60 points
2003-04 53 games played 29 points
During the 2004-05 NHL lock out Todd played ONE game with Sodertalje SK of the Swedish Elite league. Maybe he didn't like it? Don't know. He did score one pointl though.
Todd was traded by Ottawa to the Minnesota Wild for a fourth round draft pick. He skated in 61 games that season for the Wild and tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 40 points and tied for third in goals scored with 19.
For the 2006-07 season, Todd appeared in 77 games for the Wild and ranked 6th on the team with 44 points and ranked 5th on the team in assists. At the end of the season, Todd signed a four year contract with the Atlanta Thrashers.
Todd's first season with the Thrashers was less than impressive with him skating in 74 games and only scoring 37 points. The following season, 2008-09 was much different. Todd played in 82 games and tallied 73 points. Way to go, Whitey!
Hopefully the Whitey we see on the ice this season will be the 2008-09 Whitey. I have no reason to believe it won't be. We have most of the same guys and have added some new parts. Good luck in the new season, Todd!

I so want one of those green practice jerseys in a goalie cut. Do they even make that? It's such a pretty color...
Yep, they do it every year during warm ups on or near St. Patrick's day, then they auction them off for charity. I know they make a goalie cut because Moose and Kari always have one. I'm actually not in love with that particular green. The season before last was a darker green and I liked it better.
Last game Todd White did not play. He was hanging in the Club zone food court and no one recognized him. Poor guy. :(
Really? I would have totally recognized him just like you did. Whitey doesn't look like a hockey player, lol. He looks like what he studied, an accountant. I did see him during training camp hanging around watching the other team. He had on shorts (nice legs btw) and white socks pulled way up. He looked like a soccer coach, lol.
