Thrashers Paint Ball
I told you I would have some tasty photo treats for you!
Several of the Atlanta Thrashers players, staff and a few lucky season ticket holders headed out to Alpharetta to play paintball!
What was my sorry ass doing there? Well two of the season ticket holders happened to be members of the newly formed Atlanta Thrashers Fan Club (http://www.atlantathrashersfans.org/) as am I and it was decided it would be a cool photo op! They needed a super fabulous photographer...but they usually have jobs. So enter everyone's favorite unemployed, no child having, can drop everything at any moment, 1/2 assed photographer :) Fan club president, Lisa Lewis, was nice enough to think of me for job. So the two of us journeyed to Alpharetta.
Chris (better known as the Michael Myers mask wearing "DJ Nowhere") and Robbie, the two season ticket holders who were fan club members. Thanks for being you guys, without you two there, I wouldn't be there!
Originally, the players on the schedule for the match were Eric Boulton, Chris Thorburn, Thrashers prospect Spencer Mahachek, and Zach Bogosian. I was super excited to see that our 2009 first round draft pick, Evander Kane, was there as well. When I saw him at the ice rink that morning I was thinking this seemed like something he would enjoy, so I'm glad he got to go.
Zach Bogosian seemed to be the poster boy. He did several interviews and an intro for the Blueland video crew.
Zach being a super star.
Thor finishing up his lunch before the game.
Boultsie and Thor tearing into some ammo.
Evander and Spencer getting some ammo as well. Spencer has a sneaky look. Maybe they are hashing some strategies.
A super star blogger/NHL board moderator's work is never done. This is the Blueland Blogger, Ben. I bet he's tweeting some fantastic tid bit of news about the season. Or, maybe he's tweeting "vote for Sunshine's Hainsey picture." Or, he could be taking a picture of Thor and Boults, not exactly sure.
Assistant Athletic Trainer, Step Roberts, is locked, loaded and ready for action! Talk about dressed to the nines!
Zach brought his game face. He was super intense in a lot of the pictures I took.
Team Red represent! Thor and Evander get their red arm bands from one of the referees.
One of the referee's explains the rules.
The guys learning the ins and outs.
Evander listens intensely.
Boultsie wondering who the hell I am and why I keep turning up at events.
Ladies and Gentlemen...GAME ON!
Bogo is pinned down behind a wheel.
Spencer and Ben return fire.
Team Yellow wins the first round.
Robbie brought his son Ian. Ian was too young to play so he hung out with me and Lisa. Such a well mannered young man! He made me laugh a few times. I asked him how he thought his dad was going to do. He said "He's gonna get killed."
IN THE FACE!!!!!!!!!! (A reference from the movie, "The Hangover.")
Chris took a shot to the mask.
Team Red regroups and discusses strategy for the next round.
One of the fans in his hiding spot.
Blueland Blogger Ben had a great spot. It was hard for him to move closer to the flag though. Good for shooting, not good for moving.
Team Massage Therapist, Inar Treiguts, displaying his sniper skills.
Boultsie is hit!
Hey, you are out Boultsie! No helping your team.
Step going out in a blaze of glory.
OUCH! That is so going to leave a mark.
Team Red wins the second round and things are tied up.
Evander reloading for the final round.
Evander and Robbie preparing for Round 3.
Okay, someone tell Zach it's just a game. His "game face" is getting more intense. Can't wait to see it on the ice this season!
Ian is too young to play, but it looks like he is giving Boultsie some advice and tips for the game.
How sweet is this picture?? I love it. Evander is such a nice guy.
Team Red better watch their ass!
The final round was played in the woods and we could not go back there, so there are no pictures of that. Team Red won the final round and beat Team Yellow 2-1. Congrats guys and gals.
Time for group pictures.
Ian couldn't play, but he could get some pictures with the guys. Notice that even though he didn't play, he has TWICE the paint on him that Spencer and Evander have. Kids are so funny.
Boultsie being the great guy that he is and making a few minutes for Ian to take a pictures.
Woot and that's it! At first I kind of wanted to play. Then I regained my senses. I'm much better behind the camera.
