Thrashers vs Penguins
Saturday was a banner day for me! I spent the morning with the other bloggers hanging around Phillips arena watching morning skates and interviewing coaches and Rich Peverley. Because I had media credentials for the night, I could go in the arena as early as I wanted. I headed in about 30 minutes before the doors opened so I could get my spot on the glass. I knew it would be nuts with Pens fans.
I got three texts telling me that they used my "I Believe In Moose" sign on the Thrashers broadcast on tv. How awesome is that??? What's really funny is I haven't brought this to the arena this season yet, lol. Guess it was recorded last season.
Moose wasn't my only super star sign. My Flower sign made the Pens' broadcast! My friend Candace messaged me about it. SWEET! She also snapped a picture for me.
So, speaking of this sign. This is definitely one of my favorites. I've been planning this sign since the Pens won the cup.
I wanted to have the flower character on the side of Fleury's mask coming out of the bowl of the Stanley Cup. The last time I brought a sign, Flower tapped the glass. This time, he tapped the glass again!!! TWO glass taps for my Flower. He loves me.
I also had a sign welcoming Max "Superstar" Talbot back to the ice (it was actually his second game back, but oh well). Max liked it, he skated over and bumped the glass hard. Rupp gave me a couple of stick drags, too.
Down on the home end, I was glad to see that the kids had my Moose covered. Don't want him getting lonely.
There was a SEA of Pens fans. It was worse than when Detroit was here last season. I wonder how many of those people bought jerseys within the last 6 months.
When he's not harassing St. Louis, Heatmeiser harasses Sidney Crosby.
Warm ups!
Go Thrashers!
Geno stretching.
My favorite stretch he does.
He had one I hadn't seen before. Open....close....open...close.
Johnson's mask.
My Flower!
Flower taking some shots.
Max and that gum lol. I was trying to catch him and Flower fighting. It was funny, they were pushing and laughing.
Max making a face, possibly burping.
Max looking amazed. Max was i a great mood. He was dancing and singing along with the music.
Super Duper!
Flower contemplating how freaking amazing my sign is.
One Pen I do not like much, Cooke.
Captain Sidney Crosby.
So much going on in this pic. Orpik looking like he's in a trance. Max looking hella' sexy with some kind of smirk. Rupp making Bourque look a small child.
Flower warming up.
Fedotenko and Johnson chatting.
Staalsie.
Brooksie reading my sign.
Some good Eats for Candace.
Sidney working hard by the net.
Not sure what, but Max won something.
Sid looking intense.
Swarming Flower.
Sid was playing some game, taking the pucks and popping them in a certain spot in the net.
Even Flower shoots on the net.
So warm ups are over and it's time for me to go to the press box which is WAY up at the very top of the arena. Michelle snapped a picture of me up there. I'm next to the last.
Being in the press box is amazing. The view is unmatched for watching the plays develop. What's cool about being in the pressbox, they give you this huge package of NHL stats on players. During each intermission, they come around with the boxsheet from every game going on in the leauge. A girl could get used to that! It's great, but it's not great for taking pics. Even if it was, I couldn't take pics, no pics allowed. I did manage to snap this with my camera phone.
Worst part about being up there is you can't cheer. So when Thrashers scored, I'd do a quiet fist pump. I banged on the counter a few times. Do you know hard it is NOT to do the Moooooooose chant??
That means that I don't have game pics. Fortunately I have "friends of the blog" that do take pics.
Mr. Fred snapped this amazing shot of Thor on his break away.
Get out of the net, Bryan! Try and make the puck go in, not you.
Sorry Super Star, Moose says no!
I wanted Colby to score on his old team so bad!
My friend Michelle has this amazing new camera. I'm so jealous of it. If she stands close enough to you, I swear she can probably read your mind.
Action in front of Fleury.
Face off.
Action in front of Moose.
Face off.
Good shot of Flower's mask. You can see the little flower I was copying on my sign.
I forgot to say that while I was up in the press box, Chris Letang and Tyler Kennedy joined us. They were about 20ft away watching the game. They also horked down all of the media snacks.

In the shot of the little Moose fans on the glass, that's my friend's daughter with the blue sign. Moose acknowledged it and she was over the moon about it. She'll be excited to see her pic on here, too!
Beth if she would like that picture, I can send you the full version of it. I wish I had gotten a picture of Moose IN the picture with the signs. That would have rocked. Moose is the best, I'm glad he saw their signs. I get over the moon when he smiles at my signs, too!
She would love the picture! My email is bdolgner (at) gmail.com. And yeah, I know the feeling: I get giddy when Slater sees my banner. Thank you!!
Travis and I were also wondering how many Pens fans were Johnny-come-latelys. There were so many! It just sucked the life out if our crowd. :( Great pics, as always. :)
Hey Beth... I took a pic of Moose with the "Moose is my friend" sign in the background. If you'd like, I can forward it to you. :)
